What You’ll Need

The ingredients couldn’t be simpler, you only need two things!

  • 1 cup whole milk plain Greek yogurt – Feel free to substitute any plain yogurt that suits your family’s needs or preferences.
  • 1 scoop of ranch seasoning mix – Go for the name brand or store brand version. You can also make your own if you’ve got all the seasonings for it!

Let’s Make It!

I’m sure you can assume how to make it but what in addition to the directions I want to add that this is a great kid-friendly recipe to get them learning to scoop, measure, pour, and mix. Involving them in the process of making it may also lead to them trying it without pressuring them.

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, combine the Greek yogurt and ranch seasoning mix.
  2. Stir until well blended.
  3. Serve immediately or refrigerate for up to 3 days. Personally, I would not recommend freezing it.

Want Dressing Instead?

If you want this to be runnier like a dressing, add one tablespoon of oil (I use avocado or olive) and one tablespoon of white distilled vinegar. Mix it together with the yogurt and seasoning, taste it, and check the consistency. Keep adding small amounts of each until you reach the taste and texture you’re looking for.

Why You’ll Love This 2 Ingredient Ranch Dip

My kids love it and I bet yours will too! We’ve listed some ways to enjoy it below that we encourage you to try.

  • Simplicity at Its Best: With only two ingredients, this ranch dip is as easy as it gets. No need to measure out a long list of spices or chop fresh herbs—just mix and go!
    • Of note, you CAN easily add fresh herbs or more spices to taste. This can be a fun way to experiment with taste and flavor.
  • Store-Bought Convenience: While making your own seasoning mix can be fun, it’s perfectly fine to use a store-bought ranch seasoning mix. This saves time and ensures consistent flavor every time.
  • Kid-Approved: Kids love dips! Serving a dip alongside vegetables, pretzels, or other snacks can make them more appealing, especially when introducing challenging foods like new vegetables. The creamy texture and familiar ranch flavor can turn a hesitant eater into a veggie fan.
    • Of note, it can take a lot of exposure to vegetables (and many foods) for kids to be open to trying it and enjoying it. Never put pressure on your kid to try a food or take a certain number of bites.
  • Filling Twist: By using whole milk plain Greek yogurt, this dip not only tastes great but also is a source of protein and probiotics. It’s a more filling alternative to many store-bought dips.
    • However, I don’t want you to feel any shame for buying ranch dressing or a pre-made dip, we buy it too! This is just another option you can provide your family, it doesn’t have to be one or the other.

Serving Suggestions

  • Veggie Platter: Pair this dip with a colorful array of fresh vegetables like carrots, celery, bell peppers, and cherry tomatoes.
  • Chips and Crackers: Serve with whole grain crackers, pita chips, or even as a spread on sandwiches and wraps.
  • Creative Pairings: Try it with grilled chicken, on a baked potato, or as a topping for burgers.

When you serve this dip, try allowing kids to take the amount that suits them. Allowing them to serve themselves helps build their confidence in their ability to feed themselves. A valuable skill for the future!

Remember, don’t yuck on their yum. If you served this with something you weren’t expecting them to dip into it (example, grilled cheese or a strawberry) and they love it…don’t yuck on it! Allow them to explore the food in their own way and at their own pace.
