Celebrating the end of spooky season 2021 with a foamy bang! An imitation butter beer foam that is! If you’re a fan of Harry Potter and if you’ve visited The Wizarding World at Universal Studios then you’ve had butter beer and you know how delicious it is.
I started researching and really thinking about the flavor profile of butter beer and how I could make it myself. Some recipes called for ten or more ingredients and I just don’t have time for that. You probably don’t either! Plus, they were all ingredients I never use so hello food waste down the road.

Imitation Butter Beer Foam
This recipe requires three ingredients: heavy whipping cream, butter extract, and salted caramel topping. You could probably use regular caramel but c’mon, who doesn’t love salted caramel!?
I also felt afterwards that a couple of pieces of crushed sea salt on top (seriously, just a couple) would really seal it in. You’ll have to see for yourself!

Imitation Butter Beer Foam
Ingredients
- 8 oz Heavy whipping cream
- 2 tbsp Salted caramel topping (heaping tbsp!)
- 1/2 tsp butter extract
Instructions
- Combine all ingredients in a small bowl
- Blend on medium to high for 5-8 minutes. Blend until it is slow to drop off, but not stiff enough to make peaks.
Notes
I served mine over a vanilla cream ale to make it an alcoholic beverage. I love Cake Walk by Right Brain Brewery because it’s smooth, has a richer mouth feel and has no IBU. That means you won’t get any bitterness. It’s also 4.5% ABV which is pretty light. Alternatively, you could use cream soda as a non-alcoholic base.

If you make it, be sure to come say high on Instagram and cheers with me! See you in the kitchen!

Hello, thanks for sharing this. It looks amazing!
I was at Warner Bros Studios in the UK last year and the foam there was unlike anything I’d seen before – light and ivory white, but it was not dense and looked very bubbly, almost like in a bubble bath. I can’t seem to find any recipe on the web where the photos come close and I was wondering how they make it at the studios.
What sated caramel
Topping do you use?
Hi Carlie, I just used whatever my local Meijer had in stock. Nothing fancy – anything will work! 🙂
Love it! Perfect for St. Patty’s Day!
Thanks Mackenze!!
